COOKIE AND SIMILAR TECHNOLOGIES POLICY

1. PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THIS POLICY

1.1 This Cookie and Similar Technologies Policy explains how Food Truck Finder L.L.C. (“Food Truck Finder”, “we”, “us” or “our”) uses cookies and comparable technologies on the website at https://www.food-truck-finder.com and in the Food Truck Finder mobile applications for iOS and Android.

1.2 It should be read together with our Privacy Policy at https://www.food-truck-finder.com/legal/privacy, which explains how we handle personal information generally, and our Terms and Conditions at https://www.food-truck-finder.com/legal/terms.

1.3 This Policy applies to users in the United States and Canada, which are the markets in which the Service is offered.

2. WHAT THESE TECHNOLOGIES ARE

2.1 A cookie is a small text file placed on your device by a website. A first party cookie is set by the site you are visiting. A third party cookie is set by another organisation whose content or service is embedded in that site.

2.2 A session cookie is deleted when you close your browser. A persistent cookie remains for a defined period or until you delete it.

2.3 Related technologies include pixels and tracking images, which record that a page or email has been opened, local storage and session storage, which hold information in your browser, and software development kits, which are pieces of code within a mobile application that perform functions comparable to cookies.

2.4 Mobile applications do not use browser cookies in the ordinary sense. They use device and application identifiers, local storage, and the identifiers made available by the operating system, such as the Identifier for Advertisers on iOS and the Advertising ID on Android, where you permit their use.

3. CATEGORIES WE USE AND WHY

3.1 Strictly necessary. These technologies authenticate you, keep you signed in, maintain your session across pages, balance traffic across our servers, remember your consent choices, protect against fraudulent form submissions and automated abuse, and secure the vendor dashboard. The Service cannot operate without them and they are used without consent.

3.2 Functional. These remember preferences such as language, measurement units, saved search filters, cuisine preferences, map view and whether you have dismissed a notice, so that you do not have to set them again.

3.3 Analytics and performance. These help us understand how the Service is used, which pages and features are popular, how searches perform, where errors and crashes occur and how quickly pages load. We use this to prioritise improvements and to decide which cities and features to develop.

3.4 Advertising. As at the Effective Date we do not use advertising or cross context behavioural advertising technologies on the Service. If we introduce them, we will update this Policy, add the relevant category to our preference centre and obtain consent where required before deploying them.

4. LOCATION AND MAPPING TECHNOLOGIES

4.1 Where a map is displayed, our mapping provider may set technologies necessary to render tiles, cache map data and measure performance. These are used to deliver the map you have requested.

4.2 The technologies described in this Policy are distinct from the device location permission described in section 5 of our Privacy Policy. Declining or withdrawing location permission does not remove cookies, and rejecting non-essential cookies does not switch off location permission. Both controls are available to you independently.

5.1 Where consent is required, we obtain it before setting non-essential technologies. On first visit to the website we present a banner allowing you to accept all, reject all non-essential technologies, or open the preference centre and choose by category. Rejecting is as easy as accepting.

5.2 You may change your choices at any time through the cookie preference centre, which is accessible from the footer of every page of https://www.food-truck-finder.com, and through the privacy settings within the mobile applications.

5.3 Withdrawing consent is as straightforward as giving it, and takes effect for future processing. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.

5.4 Quebec’s privacy legislation requires consent to the use of technology that allows a person to be identified, located or profiled, and requires that we inform users of the means available to deactivate that technology. Our banner and preference centre provide those means, and the highest level of confidentiality is applied by default.

5.5 Where your browser transmits a recognised opt out preference signal such as Global Privacy Control, we treat it as a valid opt out request for that browser to the extent required by applicable law.

6. MANAGING TECHNOLOGIES THROUGH YOUR BROWSER AND DEVICE

6.1 Most browsers allow you to view, block and delete cookies through their settings. Blocking all cookies will prevent parts of the Service from functioning, including sign in.

6.2 On iOS you can limit application tracking and reset the Identifier for Advertisers through the privacy settings of your device. On Android you can delete or reset the Advertising ID and opt out of personalisation through the settings of your device.

6.3 Clearing cookies removes your recorded consent choices, so you will be asked to make them again on your next visit.

7. RETENTION PERIODS

7.1 Session technologies expire when you close your browser or the application.

7.2 Persistent technologies used for authentication and preferences are retained for a defined period appropriate to their function and are refreshed on use.

7.3 Records of your consent choices are retained so that we can demonstrate compliance and avoid asking you repeatedly. A current list of the specific technologies in use, their providers, purposes and durations is maintained in the preference centre at https://www.food-truck-finder.com and is updated as the Service changes.

8. THIRD PARTY PROVIDERS

8.1 Some technologies are set by service providers that operate on our behalf, including hosting, analytics, crash reporting, mapping and security providers. They may process information in the United States and in other countries.

8.2 Those providers are bound by contract to use the information only to provide their service to us and not for their own purposes. Further information about our use of service providers and cross border handling is in sections 12 and 18 of our Privacy Policy.

9. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

9.1 We will update this Policy when we add, remove or change the technologies we use, or when the law changes. The Effective Date shows when it was last revised.

9.2 Where a change requires consent, we will ask for it before the change takes effect.
