COMMUNITY AND REVIEW GUIDELINES

Effective Date: 1 September 2026

Last Updated: 1 September 2026

Applicable to: https://www.food-truck-finder.com and the Food Truck Finder mobile applications for iOS and Android

1. PURPOSE OF THESE GUIDELINES

1.1 Food Truck Finder exists so that people can find good street food and so that independent food businesses can be found. That depends on information being honest. These Guidelines explain what may be published on the Service, how reviews are handled, and what happens when the rules are broken.

1.2 These Guidelines form part of our Terms and Conditions at https://www.food-truck-finder.com/legal/terms and, for vendors, our Vendor Terms of Service at https://www.food-truck-finder.com/legal/vendor-terms. Breach of these Guidelines is a breach of those terms.

1.3 They apply to everything published on the Service, including reviews, ratings, photographs, display names, profile images, vendor listings, menus, specials and responses to reviews.

2. WHO MAY WRITE A REVIEW

2.1 You may review a food business only if you have had a genuine, first hand experience with it. One visit, one review.

2.2 Write about what actually happened. Do not describe an experience you did not have, and do not review a business you have only heard about.

2.3 Do not review a business in which you, a family member or a close associate hold an ownership, management, employment or financial interest, unless you clearly disclose that connection at the start of the review.

2.4 Do not review a competing business, and do not ask anyone else to do so on your behalf.

2.5 Do not write, buy, sell, trade or commission reviews, and do not accept payment, free food, discounts, prize entries or any other benefit in exchange for writing a review or for expressing a particular opinion. If you received anything at all in connection with your visit, say so plainly in the review.

2.6 Do not use artificial intelligence or any other tool to generate a review that presents an experience you did not have.

3. RULES FOR VENDORS ON REVIEWS

3.1 Vendors must not solicit, incentivise, purchase, fabricate or trade reviews, and must not condition any discount, gift or benefit on a review or on the sentiment of a review.

3.2 Vendors must not ask staff, family members or associates to post reviews without a clear disclosure of the relationship.

3.3 Vendors must not pressure, threaten or penalise a customer for leaving a lawful review, and must not use contractual terms that discourage customers from reviewing.

3.4 Vendors may respond publicly to reviews, may correct factual errors, and may report reviews that breach these Guidelines.

3.5 These rules reflect the Federal Trade Commission’s Rule on the Use of Consumer Reviews and Testimonials, 16 CFR Part 465, and section 5 of the Federal Trade Commission Act, 15 U.S.C. 45. Breach may result in removal of a listing and may expose the business to independent regulatory action.

4. CONTENT THAT IS NOT ALLOWED

4.1 Unlawful content, or content that promotes, facilitates or provides instructions for unlawful activity.

4.2 Harassment, bullying, threats, intimidation, or content directed at an individual staff member in a demeaning or abusive way.

4.3 Hate speech, or content that attacks or demeans a person or group on the basis of a protected characteristic.

4.4 Sexually explicit, obscene, violent or gratuitously disturbing content.

4.5 Personal information about another person, including full names of staff, telephone numbers, addresses, licence plates, images of identifiable individuals published without their consent, and screenshots of private messages.

4.6 Impersonation of another person or business, or a display name, handle or profile image chosen to suggest an affiliation that does not exist.

4.7 Spam, advertising, referral links, repeated identical posts and content unrelated to the food business being reviewed.

4.8 Content that infringes copyright, trademark or other rights, including photographs taken from another business or from the internet.

4.9 Malicious code, links to malware or phishing pages, and content designed to interfere with the Service.

5. ALLEGATIONS ABOUT FOOD SAFETY AND ILLNESS

5.1 You may honestly describe your own experience, including that you became unwell after eating, that food arrived cold, or that you observed something that concerned you.

5.2 Do not present a diagnosis, a causal conclusion or an allegation of criminal or regulatory breach as established fact when it has not been established.

5.3 Suspected food poisoning, contamination and unsafe practices should also be reported to the vendor and to the local health authority, which has the power to investigate. You may also notify us at josh@food-truck-finder.com.

5.4 We may add a notice to a listing, restrict its visibility or unpublish it while we consider credible information about a serious safety risk or an official enforcement action.

6. PHOTOGRAPHS

6.1 Photographs must be your own, must relate to the business you are reviewing, and must not be materially edited in a way that misrepresents what was served.

6.2 Do not upload photographs of identifiable people without their consent, photographs of children, or photographs taken inside a private area.

6.3 Do not upload menus, artwork or images belonging to someone else.

7. VENDOR LISTINGS

7.1 Listings must describe a real, operating food business and must be maintained by a person authorised to act for it.

7.2 Menus, prices, hours, planned locations and dietary labels must be accurate and kept up to date.

7.3 One listing per operating unit. Do not create duplicate or decoy listings, and do not claim a listing for a business you do not operate.

7.4 Do not publish a location at which you are not trading, and switch location sharing off when you stop for the day.

8. REPORTING

8.1 Any user may report content using the report function in the Service or by emailing josh@food-truck-finder.com.

8.2 A report should identify the content, the guideline you believe has been breached and, where relevant, any supporting information.

8.3 Reports are reviewed by a member of our team. Reports made in bad faith, in volume, or as a means of suppressing lawful criticism are themselves a breach of these Guidelines.

8.4 Copyright complaints follow the separate procedure in our Copyright Policy at https://www.food-truck-finder.com/legal/copyright.

9. HOW WE MODERATE

9.1 We review reported content and may also detect breaches through automated signals. Automated detection may flag, restrict or remove content, and any user affected may request human review.

9.2 Content is removed only where it breaches these Guidelines or our Terms and Conditions, where removal is required by law or by order of a competent authority, or where the content is the subject of a valid legal complaint.

9.3 We do not remove, hide, downgrade or reorder a review because it is unfavourable to a business, and we do not remove reviews at the request of a business except in accordance with clause 9.2.

9.4 We may exclude from aggregate ratings any review we assess, on reasonable grounds, to be inauthentic, incentivised, duplicated or the product of coordinated activity. Where we do so, the review may remain visible with an explanatory label.

9.5 We may edit content only for formatting, length, spelling or the removal of a specific offending element, and we will not alter the substance of what a reviewer said.

10. ENFORCEMENT

10.1 Depending on the seriousness and history of the breach, we may take one or more of the following measures: removing or labelling content, excluding a review from aggregate ratings, issuing a warning, restricting features such as reviewing or location sharing, reducing the visibility of a listing, suspending an account, or permanently terminating an account and any associated listings.

10.2 We act immediately and without prior notice where content presents a risk of harm, appears unlawful, or where notice is prohibited by law.

10.3 We terminate, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts of users who repeatedly breach these Guidelines and of repeat copyright infringers.

11. RECONSIDERATION

11.1 If your content has been removed or your account restricted, you may request reconsideration by emailing josh@food-truck-finder.com within thirty days, explaining why you believe the decision was wrong.

11.2 Where practicable, reconsideration is carried out by a person who was not involved in the original decision. We aim to respond within fourteen days.

11.3 We will tell you the outcome and the principal reasons for it. Where a measure was based on automated detection, you may ask for the principal factors taken into account and may submit observations.

12. CHANGES AND CONTACT

12.1 We will update these Guidelines as the Service and the law develop. The Effective Date shows when they were last revised.

12.2 Questions about these Guidelines may be sent to josh@food-truck-finder.com. Our website is https://www.food-truck-finder.com.
